When Plans A-D Don’t Work Out

Whelp.

I know it’s been 9 months. I could have grown a human inside me in this time period.

I didn’t, don’t worry.

Getting away from military life and back to civilian life was a lot different than we thought it would be. Remember the tiny house we were going to build? Well, we didn’t. We also didn’t move to Arizona, due to semesters starting before Hubby got out of the Marines. Instead, we moved back home to Wyoming- beautiful, wonderful, wide open Wyoming.

I had forgotten how much I love it here. Fate brought us back, and we don’t want to leave again. We love it so much, in fact, that we’re putting in an offer on a home today (!!!) in the hopes of settling down permanently. We’re miles away from our initial plans, but you know what? That’s okay.

I think the key takeaway from our transition was that flexibility is key. Things don’t work out the way you want them to, and you really have to roll with the punches. Always have a backup plan, and a backup plan for your backup plan. Family is your best asset as you transition- we’ve been renting my mom’s house for a discounted rate as we look for a home, and without that I don’t know where we’d be. Don’t be afraid to ask for help!

Ah… it’s good to be home.
